Pate de Verre is the technique used with this piece. The sculpture was created first out of wax and then a mold was made out of plaster. After the wax was removed, the mold was filled with colored glass powders and then fired in a kiln. The process is long and involved but allows for great detail in the snake and tiny bugs or leaf veins.
