Fused glass was first made by the Egyptians and Romans about 1500 B.C. Many intricate bowls, beautiful jewelry, and decorative wall tiles were created. The process of fusing begins with taking various pieces of glass and forming them into a design, then placing them into a kiln and firing them until they fuse together. The piece might also be fired a second or third time at a lower temperature to slump it into a mold to take on a new shape.
